The other day, i downloaded a freelander accessories PDF and in the brouchure they talked about a timer for the fuel burning heater. This allows you to set the timer for the FBH to start, heat up your engine and defrost your cabin. Now i thought, this sounds too good to be true but have found some additional information on this and it seems to be true. I have the landrover part number and a price of about £100. In the coming months, i think this could be really usefull as I leave my freelander outside.

Has anyone had any expreience of fitting one of these timers? If so, could you get in touch. Want to know how bad the wiring is to do.

Thanks

if it's a genuine land rover part, it will be very well explained and illustrated in the instructions. Every genuine accessory I have fitted has come with a top notch almost idiot proof set of instructions.

might be worth downloading rave CD from greenoval.com and seeing if the instructions are on there so you can make a judgement from there.

We opted for the much simpler and cheaper Unisys radio switched relays to activate both FBH and high speed blower fan relay using 'Rave' wiring diagrams which are excellent. The driver simply presses the remote button 5 minutes before departure.

I was interested in the timer as my car isnt left right next to my house so the remote wouldnt work at the distance. Had a look in the rave CD and as you said, this accessorie wasnt covered. Thanks anyway.
