I've just got a pair of thule roof bars for my disco with the plan of puttin the spare wheel on the roof. Is there any reason this would be a bad idea? Would they be strong enough?

do you corner at speed or drive offroad on side slopes?

You may struggle to get an AA or RAC patrol to lift that weight off the roof on health and safety grounds.

Thanks for the quick replies. I do chuck it into corners and as for aa/rac I think id lick a dead badger before I get them to change a tyre. I'd like to get the spare off the door as the catch and hinges are getting a bit tired. Good as gold with spare off mind. Any tips on mounting to the roof bars?
