Hi all

Have a 99 P38 Thor 4.0.... as I'm driving I have started to notice what I would describe as a throbbing/humming noise - sounds like it is coming from the front right drive area. could this be drive shafts? hubs? What do people think?

Josh

One picture is worth a thousand words.........

Anyway OP, tyre or wheel bearing - try driving down a straight empty road at about 45 mph and gently weave from side to side.

If noise comes and goes its a wheel bearing.......

Wheel bearing. check. How much is this job to get done typically? assume you need a bearing press. - should I do all four while I'm at it or is it just a case of replacing them as they go??

Personally I would do them as they wear out.
You get a warning that they are going and don't normally fail catastrohically

Its not a big job... If i recall the bearing is set in the carrier, unless you have big press handy you change the hub carrier.

a wheel bearing will be more noticeable when cornering
