Firstly, why call them 3 amigos - they are no friends of mine - 3 bastards would be a better description.
Started getting them intermittently after changing vcu (cant think of a connection though). Read all the threads. Changed brake light switch (no change), Checked and cleaned connection to gear stick switch (no change). Checked and cleaned all 4 abs sensors, all ok around 1200 ohms (no change).
By then I was **** wet due to our crap climate. Luckily I remembered my highly technical skills from years of working on Series One Landrovers, so I hit the ABS box of tricks with a hammer:eek:. Next time I started it all lights went out:D.
Stuck valve or crap in the fluid? All the wiring seems ok. Read somewhere dirty/old brake fluid can cause this, or am I looking at something more expensive?

Well there are good friends and bad friends

Am pleased your hammer method sorted it for you :)

how hard did you hit it? starting to get pi$$ed at mine too!

Obviously not hard enough, cos the bastards are back again. Sometimes stay off for half a day, you stop for petrol and there they are again. Tried all the obvious things b4 I hit it. I wonder if I have a wheel bearing going that causes some movement and triggers the lights?:frusty:

Can of petrol and box of matches time:flame2:

I had a car that had an intermittant ABS fault, changed 2 wheel sensors at about £50 each. Nothing I did worked, I noticed that it only occured when I was crawling in traffic or parked up with the engine running and the engine temp got hot, when I drove down the motorway and got some air flowing over the engine the ABS light would go out as the engine cooled. Got shut of the car in the end.

Well, after a long time, I can now say I have PERMANENTLY solved to 3 amigos issue. This remedy also avoids Head Gasket Failure and a shredded gearbox.

SOLD THE BASTID :5bhurray:

Now all I need to do is find a doozil Disco that still has rear body mounts and sills that dont resemble weetabix.......shouldnt be too difficult:D

Why not consider a basic model L-series diesel freelander without ABS or hill-descent control. No hgf issues and no 3 amigos and there also should be no rust problems.
