i have been looking at a 2001 td5 and wondered if anyone had any advice good or bad? i currently have a nissan xtrail so im sure the bad will still be better than the xtrail! its had a remap done 84,000 miles service history to 71,000 but not main dealer, should i look out for anything? its had some new parts with current owner whos only had it 3 months (slightly worrying) its has brakes, power steering pump, fuel box?, and a few other bits i cant remember, any help much appretiated many thanks

I suppose it boils down to how much its up for its low millage but seems to have had a few issues, it is probably dew injector harness air bags if fitted both easy fixes but being as its not main dealer serviced it might have been repaired by someone who doesnt know what he is doing.if its cheap go for it if its average money maybe its a friday afternoon car and best give it a miss. Only my opinion mate

I bought a 2001 td5 about a year ago and in my opinion it's a great motor. I'm not saying it's faultless, but if you know your way around a tool box and your not afraid of getting your hands dirty then it's a good user friendly car! A decent tool kit, bit of common sense, this forum, and you wont go far wrong!!. :)

i have a 99 td5 disco bought it then joined lz after reading posts it was like wat the f**k have i done!!but in the two years and a bit only had to do the usual stuff you would do on any ten year old car parts not that expensive. everthing is fairly straight forward to do.The baby(disco) still puts a smile on my face everytime i get in it.

I have had my TD5 since febuary this year and its brilliant, its only needed a cam seal £10. I had a 4.6 p38 range rover before for 4 years and that constantly emptied my wallet, but not the Disco.
Before the p38 i had an x-trail for 18 months and the farther in law has had it for the last 4 years. No problems other than a front wheel bearing when i had it, since then it has been faultless. Not as much fun as the Disco though.
