Hi All,

I don't know if anyone has posted this news before but the EU, in their infinite wisdom, have proposed to outlaw all modifications to vehicles younger than 1977. Basically the EU are proposing that parts are replaced like for like, and no modifications can be made to a vehicle.

A good explaination of the proposal has been published here with the worrying bit just under the piccy of the VW Beetle.

Obviously this affects a lot of Land Rover owners, but also historic car owners, car enthusiasts etc etc.

I urge you all to sign the E-Petition on the HM Government website ASAP. The closing date for the petition is 28/11/2012

It might be worth stickying this for a couple of weeks???

Seriously, are you for real? This is old news and its still not going to happen!
whether any of current stories are true or not i can see a time when modded landies arent allowed on the road especially with suspension and tyres ,bob tailing ,whinches and bumpers etc

there are 2 types though some (common on landies)safety interfering items ,suspension lifts etc .and other non safety ie cosmetic and entertainment ,how many would complain or how much money in the market would be lost if you werent allowed to fit lifts or whinch bumpers to landies ,

the industry is big, much bigger than any of us think and then there are the ancillary suppliers to this as well

it is big but safety related is small part of it ,if britpart stopped selling lift kits ,whinch bumpers etc like they have with bullbars it wouldnt hurt them theyd just sell more other stuff

they've plenty of other to stuff to have a go at, as you say it wouldn't hurt them

they tried this years back and it wouldnt work then either . I believe there is also a problem with them making it retrospective as if youve got say 4-5 yrs mot s saying its a safe motor , to suddenly say it isnt can be challenged in court and potentialy cost gov a lot of money!
