I had to change the water pump over the last few days, and I found the drive belt tensioner mounting stud was very loose. Upon investigation most of the thread has been stripped and although I have re-fitted it and it feels tight, I know it's only hanging on by a couple of threads at the most.
How difficult is it to fit a helicoil (or whatever they're called these days.) I'm guessing I need to get it to a professional but is it going to cost an arm and a leg to fix?

Are any alternative solutions (like refitting it with lots of Araldite) even worth considering, one of my colleagues has suggested it.

Hi,
ive just had exactly the same problem, thought it was gonna be a total nightmare... but...

i bought a heli-coil kit from machine mart, think it was abiut £35.00, but includes everything you need.
very easy to use, i ended up taking the rad out, just to give me a bit more room to get the drill in but whole job was done in about an hour...

hope this helps,
steve

as above.. just do it yourself, cheaper than getting someone to do it..

I almost bought the kit the other day, if I had it i would do it for you seeing as you are in Newbury too
