Tension collet

Hi.
Currently struggling a bit with removing the steering knuckle. (I am aware "a bit" sounds bonkers, this is the first time i have had trouble separating ball joints but then also the first time I have had to try and do two at once, if that makes sense.)
All the ball joints seem to have separated a bit from the knuckle , but I am a bit scared of doing harm.
Would it make any sense to unscrew the tension collet, a bit/a lot/not at all in order to help free the lower ball joint ?

To be clear, all the other joints, drag link etc, are off, tis only the upper and lower ones giving trouble.

no whack it with a large hammer or use a forked splitter you can do 1 at a time

I did it eventually with my usual ball joint splitter, although it was absolutely at the very end of its range, for the bottom one.
One like this, though mine might be a bit bigger.
