temp guage

Hi guys, my temp guage flickers up and down, where is the sender on the engine so I can check for loose connection, I know on other cars it's usually around the thermostat but can't see it on this,
4.6 petrol,
anyone help please

It sits front and centre on the top of the engine (as opposed to the bottom where the thermostat is). If my memory serves me right if your car is pre 1999 then it will be coloured green and if it is 1999 or later it is coloured brown.

There are two coolant temperature transmitters just before the top hose on the way out of the inlet manifold. On my 96 it is the smaller one with a single wire. The other larger one is for the engine management. My local factor got the wrong one for me first can be confusing.
