Hi folks, after some advice on this one please - My TD5 which until now has been running very well, now has an issue starting when the engine is warm.
She fires up first time every morning or after shes been left standing (Hours).
This last week though everytime I have stopped for something and then re-started it she takes ages to start - engine turning over putting a lot of strain on the battery until she fires.
I service her myself and someone suggested it could be the fuel filter not sealing properly - whats thrown me is that it only happens when the engine is hot.

Any advice would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance.

sounds more like crankshaft sensor to me. It may be worth getting it plugged into a diagnostic computer.

Cheers for the replies on this guys.

I have taken this on board and purchased a crankshaft sensor (Cheaper than getting it plugged into a diagnostic machine!)

Just gone out with all good intentions to replace this. Here is where the problem lies!!

Anyone got any tips on the best way of getting to this thing to replace it please?

I think I'm happy where it is (Bellhousing behind motor) but it looks a bit of a bugger to get to!!

Arrrgggghhhh... u might have made a mistake... IMO it's not healthy to use cheap replacement parts here, and a genuine one is not cheap at all... i've replaced mine in about 20 mins., didnt seem so difficult

Hi, Part wasnt cheap, £94 for genuine LR, however they wanted £99 + VAT just to plug it in to a machine. Figured I could use the £99 instead towards one of these Hawkeye kits?

I'm guessing the easiest way to replace is from the underneath after removing the F/O/S wheel?

i didnt remove anyhthing and it's on the right side of the car on the gearbox housing....put something under your feet and u can reach it from above with your left hand avoiding the intake manifold ... unless u are a body building champion:)
