Hi everyone, i have just put another TD5 into my discovery following the oil pump bolt killing the last engine which was a great engine by the way! (Bloody bolt)

So i swapped everything from the original engine onto the donor engine as i knew it all worked except the injectors (they are part of the donor engine and haven't been coded) and am now having the following issues:

Sunday
After carrying out the pump prime procedure managed to get it to run just about - it would only just idle and then after 10 seconds or so allowed it to be revved which it ran fine - a little rough but i put that down to the injectors needed coding?

Today
Car was left last night and now with a good battery holding 13v it will only crank in short 1 second bursts but then does nothing like the battery is dead? When i put i meter on it its draining the life of the battery and the starter motor is red hot like the engine won't turn over freely? However the immobiliser light i thought normally stays on solid when ignition is on and then goes out but its not doing that now? It just flashes intermittently during cranking?

Can anyone help with these symptons? Would Nanocomm highlight the issue as it now won't even easily crank?

Can you flood an engine to the point where it won't turn freely enough for the starter to turn it?

can you turn the engine by hand with a socket and big bar on the crank pulley bolt

yea it turns fine freely as sometimes after waiting for a short time it will begin to turn quickly again but almost instantly slows to nothing like the battery is dead.

Battery has just had a deep cycle charge and I had another disco with jump leads running. We had 13v in the meter and then when cranked it dropped down to 6v and cables started getting hot. Are there certain earths that would be common issues?
