hey everyone. my disco ahs developed a strange habbit of shaking. At 1500rpm (fast idle) holding it at these revs their is a viabration that goes right through the car! its as if its missfiring, I brought the diagnostic computer home from work tonight and check cylinder balance number one seems fairly uneven somtimes up to -20. so changed no 1 injector for a know good one still the same no fault codes stored, Inj loom changed recently and seals and washers, Any ideas as this is bugging me. my thought have been poss flywheel or drawing air in at fpr but it seems like a heavy shaking if you get what i mean. thanks Dan

When you changed the injector, did you change the injector number in the ECU?

I have the same prob at 2200rpm. Tried everything to sort but no joy. Thought it might be a mount somewhere but got the wife to hold the rev's at that point while i looked around the engine. It was shuddering like a missfire. I'm now wondering if it's the ecu as some days it's gutless and others it runs like a dream

I get that feeling too about the fact its better some days than others. I be urs is an auto isnt it? I am going to try throttle pedal in 5 mins see what happens as while at BAS on saturday i had throttle pedal faults that wasnt showing up on T4.

No change with different throttle pedal mate. i have a funny kind of feeling its somthing to do with the injector loom as it only happend after removing it. it also seems to be weird that when i fitted the new injector loom a while back i started it and it was running on 4cylinders turned off and restared and it cleared itself i may try and change it and see what happens. starts to get exspensive when you keep trying things and the dont sort it!

I am going to make a fuel pressure tester to check fuel pressure as fault is showing on number on and its the most far away from the pump so maybe lack of fuel pressure???

Check the fuel pressure at the feed pipe going into the pressure regulator - should be a constant 4 bar all the time the pump is running.I dont think fuel pressure is your problem as you say the cylinder balance at idle is a large negative value. So if this is a fuel problem then it sounds like that #1 injector is dribbling.
Did you change the engine loom as well as the one in the head ? In some cases this is necessary.
An electronic compression test would be a good idea too if you know someone with a scope.

No i havent change the engine loom this has all come about since i changed my injector seals i have tried 3 injectors in cylinder number one with no difference. -figures show that the injector is efficient and is diverting fuel back to the tank may i have a very inefficient injector? who knows! would be nice to have some means of checking the fuel pressure. have since changed FPR with no difference!

when you changed the loom did you clean out the red plug on the ecu, even when its cleaned out you might find oil keeps getting back up to the plug from the residue left in the engine loom.might also be worth taking the cover off the ecu and check for contamination in there ive done a couple now where oil has found its way in.
