Hi,

I've got a 2002 Disco TD5 (one of the last models before the face lift). It is unfortunately proving to be a rather unreliable vehicle so I am keen to do as much preventative maintenance as possible to stop anything major going wrong.

I've heard many people going on about Land Rover forgetting to apply Loctite to a bolt on the oil pump which can therefore work loose and cause massive engine damage. Had Land Rover sorted this out on TD5s by 2002? I read a post by someone somewhere saying they had a facelifed TD5 (August 02) and upon checking the bolt realised it was loose and there was no Loctite.

How much would a garage likely charge to check this and if it needed Loctiting how much would that be?

Thanks

My local independant was going to charge me one hours labour to do mine on top of the new gaskets etc and the oil and filter.

I have since gathered up the parts and will be doing my own soon. It looks an easy job. I think you can check tightness by jacking up the cars suspension to give clearance to drop the sump, rather than completely remove it.

Here's some threads on the issue I had saved if you fancy reading up on it some more. Somewhere in there should be a DIY with pictures...
