Td5 oil light flicker

When I changed my clutch and flywheel on the d2 I broke the wires behind the turbo to the oil sensor I put them back on but it keep flickering sometimes it won't be in for about 20 minutes then appear on and flicker or just stay on for abit my oil level doesn't change should I be worried

I also chewed a thread on the oil rotor filter housing so one screw doesn't screw down properly done a full service when I done the clutch and fly wheel will this do anything to my oil pressure

ive got another housing if you need one

you better measure the oil pressure with a gauge before you drive it... if you get good constan oil pressure replace the switch...if not investigate the oil pump bolt

How much for the housing. I believe the bolt has been done before I bought it how can I check the pressure ?

Drill through the rotor housing hole and use a nut on the end of a longer bolt. They dont have to be too tight, just enough to get the O ring to seal. Can you hear the rotor spinning? If so your oil pressure is good.

I'd put money on your dodgy wiring being the problem if it is intermittent.

Thanks shifty was thinking of doing that with the rotor housing. It was fine before I done my clutch and broke the wires at the back of the sensor. To be honest I have done about 3k since I done the clutch and at first it was on straight away after I serviced it as well then went off/ flickered a lot I will replace the sensor just need to get it out to find out what one it is

Just came across this thread after a search as my TD5 oil light has started to flicker on idle.

When I picked up the landy a few months the oil light came on on the way home. After stopping and checking the oil level, which was fine, the light stayed off the rest of the way home. I gave it a full service and not seen the light on since when running.

On Sunday I wanted to investigate some leaks and jetwashed the engine.

While doing the passenger side, behind the turbo and onto the gearbox I noticed a long single wire which I lifted up and pulled a bit. This seemed to come from near the turbo and go back behind the engine. I didnt trace it and thought no more until reading the comments above.

What is the wire and is it possible it could cause oil light to flicker on idle?

Its only started again after the engine clean and the oil is well topped up and pretty clean.

Update, I had the oil pressure checked and on hot idle it was 1.7 bar. I think this is healthy. I replaced the switch and its all been good so far.

Have you checked the integrity of the oil pump bolt in the sump?I did mine for peace of mind soon after purchase and found mine was coming undone-new bolt ,loctite and done up tight

I have not checked that simply as I wanted to eliminate the easy bits before jumping in with sump removal

on its next service I will put some extra time aside and check it.

Only takes an hour or so for sump off ,bolt out-new bolt in+let loctite set for a bit-then sump back on-new engine required if bolt comes out far enough to let sprocket rotate,without turning pump-I would do soon as personally

I know what you mean and I will do it but as it's done 170k ok so far and the switch seem to have cured the flicker and the pressure seems strong I will risk another 3000 miles.

I serviced it about 3000 miles ago and the plan is to service it every 6000 miles.

At the cost of fully synthetic oil I will risk it.
