Hi guys. I've got a major problem with oil leaking under the disco. The oil is everywhere underneath. I think it may be gearbox oil, as it is pretty clean and i have noticed that the gears are crunching when putting in gear.
Is there any common problem areas i can check, or has anyone got any ideas what it can be?
Thanks in advance for all your help.:)
It's a 2000 manual discovery.

The rear oil seal can go. If so you would find that your handbrake would be slipping as the seal is housed within the handbrake drum. Its an easy fix to do yourself.

Remove the handbrake drum and check, this may be your problem

It's hard to tell ...there are many possibilities....the best thing is to give it a good clean in the evening and go under in the morning ....if the oil is coming between the engine and gearbox then u are unlucky.......coz it could be the gearbox input shaft seal and that's a gearbox off job

Are you sure it's not leaking diesel from the fpr (fuel pressure regulator) - very common problem?
