Hi. I'm new to this forum. I've had several landis over the years. I've just bought an 05 plate TD5 110. First it sounds like a bag of nails when its cold especailly at low rev's. Is this normal? Secondly when you switch off you can hear something running down. I tracked this to the centrifgal oil filter, Again is this normal?

Phil.

Hi Phil, the running down noise as you say is from the centrifugal oil filter and is normal although apparently some cars do it and some dont, never noticed it on my Td5 Disco. The noise at low revs not sure about that, but no doubt someone with more knowledge will be along to help you.:)

have you got a fuel burning heater?, this cold weather catches a few people out , the fbh makes a noise on start up and runs on for a min or two to do a purge when engine is switched off

look at front under bumper near side you see exhaust and smell the fumes

Hi I'm new to this forum so sorry if i have posted in the wrong section,

I'm the proud owner of a 2000 Defender 90 Td5, I've had it a month and it's been a joyful pain for about a month. So I now understand the love and annoyance that the defender brings. Oil leaking everywhere, strange noises when driving and the most fun I've had with a vehicle ever.

Can anyone please identify the scraping noise in the below recording?

Any advice or information would be very much appreciated.
