Hi guys I have a 99 discovery td5 which has just turned 100,000 miles. Driving it to the airport on Thursday i felt a loss of power but kept going as we're away on holidays. Just before the airport on a roundabout as I came to a stop i noticed its lost a cylinder and sounds poorly. I nursed it into the airparks carpark and left it but I can't stop thinking what it could be I was thinking an injector fault maybe. Is this a common fault or is there anything else that it could be? Also I need to drive it about 20 miles when get back to Newcastle to drop my daughter off in Durham then I could ring the aa to take us upto Dunfermline will this be ok do You's think?
Any advice or help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance:)

oil in injector loom gives them symptoms, easy and cheap if its that, pull red plug on ecu and check for oil

Thanks for that never thought of the oil in the injector harness simply as it hasnt put any management lights or anything on. Could it still be that as of no warning lights? Iam hoping it is just that as iam going out of my mind thinking the worst and its putting a dampner on my holiday lol. Iam Gona order a harness so at least I've got one for when I get home just incase.
Also as previously asked do you think itl be ok to do the short trip from the airport so's we can get away from the airpark? Cheers, Darren.

QUOTE=sierrafery;2019451]^^^ +1...and if there's oil(which seems very probable) buy a new injector loom and do that www.discovery2.co.uk / Workshop /Injector Harness[/QUOTE]

oil in injector loom doesnt put dash lights on, it should be ok on your 20 mile trip, it may splutter but is ok, if your worried get a can of electrical connector cleaner and pull red ecu plug and give a clean, should work short term

Ok thanks hopefully its the loom. Think I'll just be limping the 20 or so miles as we get in at summit like 4am so dont think ill be cleaning the plug Lol. ill mebies have a look when we get up in the morning worst case ill just get the aa to tow us home. After all thats what i pay for.

Just an update after having a sleep today I pulled the ecu out and the oil was dripping out of the plug before I even removed it, took it off and I cleaned it with brake cleaner and checked inside the ecu but none in there, started fine but after about 2 miles the missing started again so just got aa to recover us. thinking the oil has done it again, going to change the injector harness but how the hell do you get the oil out of the other part of the harness? Thanks, Darren.

Changed harness and rocker gasket today, cleaned out plug again seams fine after a run will keep pulling ecu out and checking for oil though and give it a spray. Thanks guys!
