Thought I'd share this resolution that worked for me - I've been around the houses trying to find the cause of an intermittent misfire. Symptoms are similar to the injector loom issue but with a slight indicator to an alternative. Mine would stutter, engine management light showing briefly and would also on occasion either not start or need winding up to start. I changed the loom today as there was some oil showing at the red plug on the ecu (so it was going to need it anyway it seems). However, on starting it still would stutter so I thought it was residue from oil still in loom. On cleaning with electric contact cleaner the problem persisted. I noticed that the temp gauge fluctuated slightly all the time, and on misfire dropped dramatically. It appeared as if the ignition was being switched off completely during the blips. Under driver seat is the bank of relays and in the darkness could see some arcing from one of the relays (main Relay) - On removing relay one of the terminals was burnt on the relay and blackened on the plug. I cleaned it up and put in a new relay and problem has stopped and the fuel gauge is not fluctuating either. So, if your misfire coincides with the temp gauge flickering check your relay & plug
