I have checked the red connector at the ECU and cleaned the oil by tissues and an air line! Drove the Disco for 15 miles and the problem started again! Re-looked at the red connector at ECU again very little oil evident. Your opinion would be welcome!

Even a little oil will cause issues. And just because you have cleaned the oil out of the plug there may be some still in the ECU.

If you have had oil at the plug it will continue to "flow" there until you replace the injector Harness and all the residual oil in the harness to engine loom (and to ECU) has "flowed" out.

New harnesses are about £40 and take about 2 hours to replace if you take your time over it. Can be done in an hour if you are an expert.

will put my money on the injector harness. I had the same problem and at about 50mph is shook the living **** out of the Disco. Got home and fitted the injector harness and all has been good for a long while now. Just cleaning the connector of oil will not remove the prob. Listen to the peeps on here and replace the injector loom. Not too expensive a part £40 ish as stated previous and max 1 hour to do.

and possibly drain the ecu over night in a warm place just to make sure if any oil was in there it drains out..

Ok! I've opened the top of the ECU and there is just a tiny bit or smit of oil but definitely evidence of oil, it looks insignificant!!! However its not possible to see what's going on under the green wiring board. Do you think this is evidence of the harness being defective? There is no evidence of oil on the external wires of the loom that leads to the red plug, but when I originally looked at the problem the plug was fairly saturated with oil. Does the oil then travel through the core of the wire? Can you let me know if the injection harness includes the entire loom that has the red plug as I have seen pictures on ebay and it does not appear to be included.

the oil goes inside using a capilary action - it may take a while to flow through entirely

Thanx! Can you confirm if I have to replace the section of the loom with the red plug that connects to the ecu or just the harness under the rocker cover? Many thanx for your helps so far!!!!!!!!!!

Changing the injection harness, which took approximately 1hr has fixed the problem. It is quite a simple operation to do! Thanks to all those who commented!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can i just say the oil in the red plug once cleaned may then spread to maf plug egr solenoid plugs and right through the under bonet fuse box as mine did been cleaning the multi plugs for 8 months now so if you have had a lot of oil in the red plug and still after changeing the harness have props missfires etc these are things to lookinto cheers
