While my TD5 disco engine is running, I get a constant drip of diesel fuel. It appears to be coming from the LHS of the tank. I put her up on axle stands and noticed what appears to be a black plastic fuel line routed along the top of the chassis rail. It also routes through a bracket which I think it could be chaeffing against. The whole area around the tank is covered in diesel (as was the whole rear door before I washed it), so it's difficult to spot the actual leak, though I haven't been underneath properly yet.

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to get myself comfortably positioned underneath the fuel tank and see if I can't spot the culprit! :)

I have the Land Rover tow bracket installed. Could anyone advise;

a. Whether I need to remove the tow bar/ bracket in order to get the fuel tank out.
b. What my problem will likely be, based on the known Disco 2 issues list.

Appreciate any advice you can offer.

All the best.............. Brian

its very common for the fuel pipes to rub and leak it happens to them all at some point but there has been a problem getting replacements so its just a matter of repairing them untill they are available but you need to make sure no bits get into the pipe when repairing them (very important) and if you can get a set of replacements make sure they are routed properly or they wont last long

Martin, Thanks for that. I'll have a look at it tomorrow and then call the LR dealer to see if I can get the parts.

Hope the snow keeps off tonight, as the Landie is too tall to fit under my garage door!

Cheers,,,, Brian

brian,
dont want to worry you but you may want to search for td5 fuel lines in this section as they were not long ago back ordered for an age...i do remember someone on here sourcing from elsewhere though so you should find it on here if youre stuck

When mine did this I dropped the tank and found the pipe that had rubbed through on the plastic sleeve covering the wires to the pump.

Rather than rip out pipes and all that stuff, I cut out one inch or so of pipe, and shoved the two ends into a 10mm plastic connector.

These connectors are fit to handle pressures up to about ten BAR, and fuel, so they are THE BUSINESS in TD5s.

I carry four in the Disco as spares everywhere I go, along with some clean fuel filters.

Hi Foss.... I called my local dealer. He didn't have any fuel lines in stock, but their sister branch in Newcastle did. It's the High Pressure feed hose, which the salesman told me was always prone to failure, and so I got to work. Got the filler pipe and breather pipes off OK, and managed to release the two forward clamp nuts, but could I hell get the rear two bolts loose.

Since I couldn't get the Disco into my garage and I was being bombarded by hail, rain and wind, I decided to take the path of least resistance, and booked her into my local dealer. Here's hoping............

All fixed now! Dealer charged £88 +VAT plus the fuel pipe cost of £32 + VAT. I'm so pleased to have it back on the road as the weather has been a tad frosty over the last week :D

Someone gave them to me.
They are for compressed air fittings and apparently easily available - SOMEWHERE!

Try this with no spaces of course

Legris LF3000 push in Tube/Tube connector - Next Day from Airlines-Pneumatics

Legris LF3000 push-in Tube/Tube equal connector 10mm
order code 101204

The pipe is 10mm outside diameter

Whatever, these connectors are THE BUSINESS, and a permanent fix is done in seconds.

All TD5 owners should carry a few of these.
