I have just collected a fuel check valve kit from the local main stealer - like this:

I'd expected it to have some form of moving bit to 'check' the fuel - I can see straight through it and can blow through it in both directions so how is it supposed to work?

It looks like getting it into the brass hose-end is a bit tight. What are the barb's for?

I'm confused???

think its meant to have a flappy bit of pipe on it, with a split at one end, it lets fuel one way, but the split closes up if it tries to flow the other way

if you mean the non-return valve there are modells which didnt even have it from factory(the earlyer modells) and if its that kind you can't fit it as the filter housing and pipe connection are not accepting it...it's not a vital part and won't affect very much the function of the engine

the other one (air bleed valve) is present on all modells and if it's gone it can generate very hard cold starts.

I took mine out as it wasn't letting any fuel through so was getting starved and hard to start.

Pain if you let the fuel run below a 2/3rds of a tank though as it loses prime with the valve removed.

Have a new filter housing to fit during the week when I change te filter though so should solve it :)
Wouldn't mind an auxiliary tank and never really have to worry about it going low
