i have a disco 2 td5 2001 my mate has put it on diagnostics and its come back 0120 can error / can link error, which he looked up, one or more control modules not communicating with the ecu. ive found fault code p0120 which is throttle position sensor does my fault code mean the same or something different?? if anyone could shed some light that would be great!!! i have rang local indy they would not tell me unless they could plug it in for a charge of course!!!

could it be like other sensor slightly worn? if u push the pedal and the engine doesnt response like it should be then it could give that code. i would ask this "sierrafierry" or jamesmartin, they seem to know much about these.

Unless your mates' diagnostic gear is set-up to work specifically with LR products, the fault codes are pretty meaningless tbh.

LR does not use OBD or OBD2 protocols, that why you need to have LR dedicated gear or the results will not help you.

My guess would be that the can-bus error is an example of this - that sort of error code suggests the diagnostic gear cannot communicate with the cars' systems.

hi biglad
thanks for the reply, maybe i will have to bite the bullet and get an autologic diagnostic done then

1. Put your location in your profile, someone local might be able to help;

2. Go to the D2 Boys Club forum and look at the Nanocom/Hawkeye locator section.

Good luck

Dave

The can bus error would make sense if its a manual box car - only auto's use it twixt engine and autobox ecu's. As already said any decent indy will want to do their own diagnosis - far too many have been tripped up with seconhand info from other sources using kit that is multimake,not LR specific.
You need to spend a little cash on a decent diagnostic session.....

So i took it to the dealer today and no fault codes came up so I presume it must have been my mates diagnostics. How ever it still sounds like a bag of nails between 2000 and 2500 rpm almost as tho it's only running on 4 cylinders. I would be great full if anyone had any ideas!! It's been de egr had new injector harness and maf many thanks jay
