Sitting on motorway today at bout 70mph. Thought I would give it a wee boot to clear any cobwebs, as I don't normally even go that fast. Felt as if engine was miss firing at between 2500 and 3000 revs. Could it be the waste gate, or waste gate modulator giving an over boost? Whats the best way to check both?

Misfiring? Don't forget to rule out the common oil down the injector loom problem, if you haven't.

Thanks guys. Its had a new harness and FPR though.

Havnt got diagnostics. Might wait untill I've financially recovered from Xmas and splash out on something.

When i had this problem it was down to wastegate sticking. As its easy to access its simple to free up. I secured the spindle bewteen wastegate and solenoid with vice grips and when trying to move it back and forth it was noticeably stiff. A bit of penetrating oil and working back and forth and problem cured. Worth a try before you fork out for diagnostics.

Same problem with mine, turned out to be the vacumn pipe between the turbo outlet hose and the modulator, small crack letting air in
