hi just wondering how much work is involved with putting a td5 bulkhead into an '87 2.5 non turbo? I know series motors require cutting of footwell etc, not afraid of a bit of welding, hopefully getting my old 110 back but bulkhead is ropey and I have a brand spanking td5 bulkhead sitting there (ironically since I last owned the land rover!) one of the ones going dirt cheap when they all got sold off

Mines a 1988 2.5TD and although the bulkhead looks ok on the out side it has been repaired by p o in the past ( front of bulkhead on both sides ) and i have noticed a small pinhole under the n/s bottom door hinge which i am a bit worried about when doing the galv chassis swap so just sort of thinking ahead really but want to know the same question really :)

The td5 bulkhead has a different gearbox tunnel so will need modifying or a tunnel cover and seatbox off a 300tdi or later. I think there are also a few other minor differences like fixings etc but I haven't got that far with my rebuild.

Later td5 bulkheads have bigger wiper spindles and a different wiper motor and rack plus the motor is located differently
Is your bulkhead a later type? Compare the wiper spindle holes with your old bulkhead
I assume when you say new bulkhead you mean bare so this could be a factor as to hidden costs
To be fair most bits are the same and I've rebodied 7 defender 300 tdis with td5 bodies

cost is not the factor just I have the bulkhead and might aswell use it I know it will take some mods and hopefully get it galvanised to make it last, I presume it will be a later type as would have been the ones flogged off at end of td5 run, I suppose the only real way will be to get on with it :D

Hmmmm Galv my favourite lol
I upgraded a truck with later type bulkhead and was lucky to have the later harness
I fitted elec window switches but swapped the blank covers to them and used one for the tipper up/down and the other for the winch in/out
