TD5 - 750 miles on one tankfull!

yet another thread on the ' what MPG can i expect from a TD5' topic

just come back from 6 days in Cornwall - first real long distance run in the disco in the 4 months i've had it, normally get 33mpg average

filled the tank to the brim before we set of - 265 mile journey down from Staffordshire to Herodsfoot (near Liskeard) 212 miles running about down there & 265 miles back - arrived home with needle on 1st mark on gauge (light not on yet ) - I reckon about 10 litres of diesel left

so 742 miles on 85 litres - 18.75 gal = 39.5MPG

not bad eh?

about 600 miles of that was cruising on motorway/dual carriageway at a steady 65/70

My mate will think all his birthdays have come at once.

don't know what his is returning yet , he's only run back and forth to work so far in Uttoxeter. I imagine somewhere in the high 20's.

Mind you if you can't afford it you shouldn't run it

Very good, have you done any mods, egr bypass or re map?

just EGR blanked & new air filter.

sorry mate - didn't realise, knew you were down that way somewhere.

we stopped in one of the forestry commission log cabins at herodsfoot (very nice & peaceful) , visited Polperro, Padstow & Port Issac

said we'd like to go back for longer next year so may take you up on the offer next time
