I am a bit confused, nothing new there! Anyway I have a 2001 td4, manual gearbox registered in May 2001. When I bought it I bought road tax in July 2007 and it was £205 for 12months.
I am looking into future road tax costs and my registration document states a CO2 of 176g/km so it looks like I should have only paid £165!

So what road tax is everyone else paying?????

It's because your vehicle was registered AFTER March 2001.

Prior to that a manual TD4 should be about 185 for the year.

Your vehicle is a band F under the new system. But next year it'll be moved to a band J so a big hike unfortunately!!!!

I stand to be corrected (and no doubt will be!) but that's what I understand from what I've read....

shootingmike: Thanks for your reply. But thats what I cant under stand, according to the bbc site and others a diesel car registered after march 2001:
Year 2007-2008
Band E (166-185g/km CO2) £165
Band F (over 185g/km CO2)£205

2008-2009
166-185 £170 E
Over 185 £210 F
Over 226 £400 G

2009-2010
171-180 £205 I
181-200 £260 J
201-225 £300 K
226-255 £415 L
over 255 £440 M

On my registration document it states Co2 Immissions of 176g/k. So it should be a band E and then Band I.

Hope this helps....ensure you click road tax button for future years

Cheers, I have followed the link and even that does tell me the info for a post March 2001 registered td4!
Road tax - Parker's

But bottom line is its 205g/km so thats expensive. Its annoying really as we dont do many miles and could almost do without a car. Well we could if it wasnt for diy stuff for flats and the odd family visit. Its almost worth just hiring cars now and again, but then I wouldn't get to drive very often and I would miss that.
