Good morning guys.
I have a 2004 TD4 2.0.
No battery light shows yet on mornings it seems to have no power just won't tick over although the battery is new and starting motor tries to engage. Some mornings there is nothing others shows electrics and starts fine.

I also have a 1.8 3 door with similar issue. New battery and both show full charge yet there is nothing showing in the three door, it's just dead, no lights no tick over.

Anyone have any idea what could be the issue.
I've checked fuses, connections and all the usual places, to be honest I'm stuck for ideas.

I don't understand the relevance of the no, no charge light and the engine not ticking over when cold.

I would check the cable & post on the starter motor (you can buy the internal starter motor contacts separately if they're a bit worn from arcing).
I did have to give my SM a tap a few years ago as it had a similar problem, I got a kit, stripped the motor but the contacts just needed cleaning & it's done about 20,000 since without issue.
@Nodge68 I presume he meant not turning over instead of 'not ticking over'

Sorry for the late reply. You were spot on. The smaller cable had a block on the end at the starter which had a poor connection where the wire had worked loose. The wire was worn at the connection. Had no issues after cutting the wire back and new connection put on.
I'd looked at everything and it turned out to be something as simple as that.
Saved me money on the new starter, much appreciated
