TD4 Fitting cruise control

Hello again mate, yes thanks, I have read that thread. Interesting to see that the CC master switch plug has 3 or 4 wires.

Anyway some news, I've been looking all afternoon for this sodding master switch plug and still can't find it. It may be right up under the dash, which will require the dash to come out to get to and I'm not too keen on doing that. But having put everything back together to use the car and not wanting to have wasted both yours and my weekend, curiosity got the better of me and I fed a fused power feed to pin 7, white/yellow wire, on the CC ecu, as per my Rave diagram..... and low and behold I have cruise control... of sorts.

It doesn't work as per the handbook, but it works in a way to at least make it useable. With mine, when you energise the CC ecu the dash light doesn't come on until you press the resume button, you can then drive at a desired speed, press the set button and the cruise works, you can increase the speed on the set button, you can accelerate to a higher speed, back off and it'll pick up again when you get down to the set speed, it also disengages the CC when you touch the brakes. But if you the hit the resume button to activate the CC again, the dash light goes out and you can't use the CC again until you've turned the main switch off and on again.

I think this is most probably due to not having the correct switch and wiring loom, so hopefully some kind sole on here will be able to furnish me with the necessary info or if I could get hold of a correct wiring diagram, I could work it out and wire it up myself. I would prefer to have it as per the factory setup. Cheers again Chris.
 
I have the same problem as cpyorkshire in the way the cruise control worked however I had all the wiring in place and all the correct switches. Has anybody else experienced this problem?, or is it due to possibly needing the engine ecu programmed to enable cruise as looking at the wiring diagram it is a major part of the operation the set switch connects to the engine ecu not the cc ecu.

I have a Delphi scanner and when I looked I couldn't see the cc ecu under the multifunction body but maybe I should have looked under engine for it?.
 
Hi, I'm trying to retro fit cruise control to my Mk 1 Facelift 2004 (54) Freelander TD4 Auto Sport. As per my previous posts, I've fitted the CC ecu and steering wheel controls, what I'm stuck on is the master switch wiring.

What I'd love to know from anyone on here who owns a Mk1 Facelift Auto Td4, particularly the Sport Model is :

If you haven't got Cruise Control, is the blue plug for the master switch behind the little dash facia panel to the right hand side of the steering column (Just above the fuse box cupboard)?
If the plug is there, is there a white label with a part number on it and if possible could you follow the loom back and see where it plugs in or which harness it comes out of. Also how many wires go into the blue plug?
I suspect HSE spec cars are more likely to have this, but I'd like to know about the lower spec cars too.

Anyone that has Cruise control fitted, could you take a peek behind the master switch and again let me know how many wires are in the plug and if there's a part number label on that bit of wiring loom.

Probably to late for cpyorkshire but might help someone else in the future. I'm just checking out upgrades for my recently acquired SE TD4 auto. I want CC so was looking for the wiring in the vehicle when I came across the little labelled harness mentioned as missing. The part number on mine is YMQ500870. This costs just a few quid and is listed as "harness jumper, parking sensor" My TD4 has the blue plug with 4 wires paired with the 3 wires going to white plug for the parking sensor switch. As far as I can see, this little harness plugs into the back of the fuse box, feeding power to the CC switch.
Thankfully my car has the harnesses the CC uses which is nice.
 
I have got to say that this forum is invaluable! looking through it I have managed to find and fit cruise control to my 2005 td4 and its works well do a lot of motorway miles found the wiring to both interface and switch gear tucked under the kick panel , tried to buy a master switch from eBay but it is different on the face lift model so adapted a laminated switch to fit in the dash easier to switch anyway and finding the cable number for the missing link was great so got it done for under £60 brill

I surched a few years ago also to the wiring. But only found the on/off switch.
Removed both front seats to look under the carped, but didn't found nothing. Where did you you find the wiring?

did you take off the kick panel ? removed this and found the clip, switch plug plus at throttle pedal side right got the plug to put in the patch wire
 
Only the auto box Freelander would have CC wiring. Manual box Freelander's never had nor can have CC.
 
clip means a plug socket that as a secure fixing attached doubt I can fit but progressed through the rave electrical diagram
 
I have had a look under my drivers seat and I have a little grey two wire plug doing nothing, is this the one for the CC ?
The CC ECU wiring under the seat has about 12 wires. So 2 wires isn't enough for CC to work. Is it a manual Freelander or automatic?
 
Its an automatic and its clipped to the bottom of the seat, I didn't look to see if there is anything tucked up under the carpet.
The CC wiring will be under the carpet, below a flap cut into the carpet. The plug on the seat could be a number of items, non CC related.
 
the wires you are talking about are the heated seats the wires required are under the plastic kick panel as you get in the car it has a "ratchet "type clip to it and it should have white and white with yellow wires in the wiring the other set of connections are at the foot well drivers side to which you add the wires YMQ500870 purchased from john craddock for about a fiver ok
 
If you have rear PDC then jumper harness YMQ500870 will already be in place as it's a shared harness between PDC and CC.
 
mine is a td4 auto class "s" basic model no folding mirrors and no park assist so you are probably right as this also contains the wiring for switch of reversing sensors so if you have got reverse switch at the panel just above fuse box(RHD) then you have got the wires ok
 
Because i have a manual gearbox i don't have these wiring................... Now i know wy i doesn't found these under the carped. LOL
But i'll have the wiring for the switch next to the on/off button for the park assist

Manual gearbox Freelanders can't have factory CC so most of the wiring isn't in place as the manual uses a different harness. Only small elements of the CC harness is there, where it's shared with other equipment, like rear PDC.
