I am about to have a tank made to go underneath.
In between the chassis and the sill is where I want it to go.........
I notice a long strip running down the length of the floor about an inch tall coming down from the floor....Can this be trimmed off?
Also...there are one or two bolts ends coming through the floor...can these be cut of flush with the floor?

Tinley tech do lpg tanks to fit in that position (one each side) for lpg fed discoverys and range rovers, might be worth giving them a ring to see what their fitting kits are like

cheers, been quoted £50 for a tank underneath, should be about 25 litres.
I need the connectors for it.....filler, fule breather and output...any ideas?

This is diesel or similar we are talking ? If so then marine suppliers are a good place to look for fuel tank parts...tend to be a bit pricey though

I am planning to do the same but on both sides. I make biodiesel and want to increase my range for some long trips this summer when I will have the boot full and no room for jerry cans.

I am planning on welding them up out of 304 stainless and I think I can get about 40 to 50L in each. As for filling and draining them I am planning to have a pump from each sill tank to refill the main tank and a manual valve to switch it over to fill up from the main tank. There will be no gauges just an overflow from each sill tank back in to the filler pipe to return to the main tank.

There wont need to be any additional filters as the fuel will still have to go threw the main tank to go to the engine.

Filling up will be a bit of a faf but I am only really going to use them for long trips so waiting for 15 min for the two tanks to fill from the main wont bother me and when on the road just flick a switch and watch the fuel gauge going up in staid of down.

I did see there are a few plastic tanks on eBay including a 30L one for £28 which would be a lot less hassle if they fit.

Caravan/motorhome breakers - I have good plastic tanks from them before , theres a good size one fitted to a lot of high end 90s caravans thats perfect for the job . Theres a big place in wales , I will see if I can find them . If not google Exmoor Caravan Breakers , the guy is a mate of mine , its a small operation but the prices are good , you may have to wait for the part you want as he doesnt have a lot of storage space but is very good at getting back to you when he gets what you are after .
