Perhaps in theory, but not in practice I feel.
I've never had any trouble with the Right Hand Thread ones even on the end of a rope for many miles.

I wonder if it's a real problem or an imaginary one?

BBC Radio Scotland are going to interview me live tomorrow morning.
The guy was going to drive out here in the rush hour, 30 miles, in an Astra!
Ha Ha! I said I would look out for him on Tuesday or Wednesday!
I am now meeting him at a local rail station. Diesel trains. He might make it.

Any suggestions what to say?

Apart from THAT!

about what?
why they interviewing you ?

Hi, been out pulling motors up a local hill to my village. What gets me is as im pulling 60-80 grand motors, for 1500 quid they could have a disco on standby for the conditions we are experiencing at the moment.cheers elt.

About 10 vehicles last night, highlights being winching a '10' plate Megan out of a ditch, tow starting a 15T recvoery flat bed down the road and pulled a fully laden 40T artic up a icy hill. Coppers and army had their jaws on the floor watching this little 4x4 chug up the hill dragging the lorry behind it.

A couple of years ago in these yer parts a teenager was going around leaving notes on windscreens of "gas guzzling 4x4's" saying they were bad for the enviroment. The local newspaper got onto this and made a big play supporting her, agreeing how bad these 4x4's were.Whos haveing the last laugh now,in my road on a hill which is has been frozen for some time ALL "normal" cars simply can not move. How many of these drivers agreed that 4x's were bad for the enviroment now wish they also had a 4x4'. no let em struggle I say.

Must have been 15 tows yesterday, ranging from a little nissan micra through to an empty feed wagon. He must have weighed a good 10 tonnes.

Anyone thought of starting a petition for the 'freedom to drive the vehicle of my choice" or somesuch, and then carrying a copy with them.

If someone needs a tow, then they sign the petition, or they stick with their principles, and remain stuck?

I would, but we have yet to have any conditions which require a rescue of anyone.

Haven't done any towing yet but did have a good larf yesterday on a steep hill near our house. Two X5s in front had to reverse back uphill to let a copper through. Talk about ice panto it was like a red arrows display as they peeled off in all directions bumping off kerbs. What about my good ol 15yr old V8 D1? Reversed straight back up the hill for 30 yds no probs. Big cheesy grin from the copper as he waved his thanks. I'd swap the X5 electrics for mine any day tho :)

Picked up a local doctor this morning and dropped him at work, then on the way back I recovered a motorist that had run out of petrol on a bust fast stretch dual carriageway. He said he was waiting for his sister to bring him a can of fuel, he had tried to pull over but because of the snow he had his arse stuck right out in the lane, it was safer for everyone to drag him to the garage a mile away. It turned out to be a hire car and they hadn't left enough juice in it for him to get it to a garage.
