Hi Guy’s,

Is it likely that I need a Sync Mate?
My car has been stood since March with the battery disconnected.
I was having occasional battery drain problems. After charging the battery I would need to enter the EKA code to start the car. Some nights I would find all four indicators on but not flashing. After unlocking the car and re locking with the remote this would be ok for a while. One morning the EKA code would not work. I tried loads of times over several days and it would not accept the code. The car has been stood since then.

Yesterday I decided to have another go. I put a fully charged battery on and tried the EKA code and to my surprise it worked other than the car won’t fire. It turns over ok but not a splutter. I have ordered a spark tester and will check at the weekend if there is a spark but is there any simple way to determine if the BECM and engine ECU are out of sync. I have read that if the engine check light is not lit the sync has been lost however my engine check light is on when the ignition is turned on.

Any tips guys on how to get the beast running again?
Year 2000 P38 4.6 Thor engine.

Ok for info and to close this thread.
I checked with a code reader and had a fault code p1672.
It was indeed a loss of sync.
Now running again thanks to use of a Black Box sync mate.
