New to the forum, I've brought a range rover p38.

the engine turns over, heater plugs work, truck just doesnt inject fuel

becm code has been lost so im looking for someone with a sync mate or software with capacities to code the becm

im based at st7 Audley, i'm happy to buy unwanted dianostics off someone

cheers in advance

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to invest in a Nanocom if you're planning on keeping the car. You'll need it sooner or later. Up by Stoke? Bound to be someone around there I'd have thought.

Am I right I thinking the nanocom is the black box solutions diagnostic set, can I use this to code Becm's on all p38's?

Only if you have the different vehicle access. About £50.00 a pop. And only if the BECM is unlocked. Nanocom will not unlock a locked BECM. Faultmate MSV2 will unlock locked BECMs but the module for doing that is an astronomic price as are the access all vehicles codes. About £5000.00 all up i think.

Ok well i have plenty of options. 1. Sync Mate and hope the Becm is unlocked 2. Nanocom and hope the Becm is unlocked 3 buy a Becm ecu handle plus extras from a breaker 4. Send my Becm and ecu to callrova 5. Get an autoelectrician in to do
it

Think there is a little cross purpose here. The Nanocom will sync the car whether the BECM is locked or not. But there are some functions it will not perform on a locked BECM that it will do on an unlocked one. But it cannot unlock a locked BECM.

Ohh noo.... Thought I'd take some covers off and check the wiring on the old truck... After some poking... Someone's been faffing! I found a sensor on the pass side rear on the engine under the inlet with a home made earth? Possibly a heater plug mod, the fuel lines look empty. So I've checked the pump relay, seems ok, bypassed the relay, no pump... :L erm wtf

Fuel lift pump is fed from glowplug six when glow lamps are lit. Whilst engine is running. When cranking on 1999 and on models. If the pump is duff and there is no fuel that is possibly the non start problem. Should have been the first thing you looked at.

Ok, I've had enough of tinkering for tonight. The fuel pump is scrap, I did remove it and put power to it, nothing small tap with the hammer, worked for a few seconds. And off again.... Right. So I'll order another fuel pump!

There's a fuel stop solenoid on the injection pump, it has a 12v feed when the ignition is on, plus with you crank the engine, the injection pump hums... Is it immobilised? Do you think it'll play ball with a new pump

Oh, And for background I brought the car as a non-runner and was told it was an ecu code fault, so first time I've layed a spanner on it was tonight.. :)

I assume you're talking the lift-pump in the tank? Worth a try but Wammers is the man who will know.

I believe the FIP is pretty bullet-proof unless you stick nasty stuff through it. JohnnyCrash is the expert there. ;)

Lift pump will still run if car is out of sync but injection pump won't inject any because the stop valve is closed.

It doesn't matter if a becm is locked or not. A sync-mate will code your ecu to your becm. You haven't got lockout as the engine is turning over, so a sync-mate will do the job.

Ok now its running again. The fault was the fuel pump failed, it got left for months and the battery died and lost Becm, so fitted new pump and had Becm synced, has fixed it thanks for your help guys.

Just need big tyres And bumpers now :)
