Ive just bought an ES 1.8 manual. There seems to be a problem with the sunroof. It will tilt but not slide open. When i try the open button i can not hear the motor but do hear a click like a solenoid from the dash. Any ideas ??

Yep, mine's just gone similarlty... was going to get it fixed, but then decided to hang on until spring so I can lube it up ready for summer.

You probably need two new runners, which are £80 each, but I believe a monkey could fit them.

Otherwise, it's a new motor unit, which is about £125.

Failing that, just live with it tilting... that's what I'll be doing for 6 months!

What should the rails be lubricated with?

I have seen mentioned WD40 in other posts, which might work if something is jammed, but I'm thinking more of some form of grease for long term lubrication.

Steve :)

runners are nackered, the cables break out of them, normally just on one side but do both cos the other one will so go the same way soon afetrwards

Thanks for the advice everyone. Im debating whether its a job i can do or should i pay about £500 for a dealer to do it. Im assuming i have to take the roof liner down to expose th sunroof workings?. If anyone has experience of doing this job i would appreciate some pointers. Im looking to buy a workshop manual from Ebay which im hoping shows how to do it.
