Hi All,

I did an oil change not so long ago, but I had to use an adjustable spanner to get the sump plug bolt out which I hate because it strips the bolt too easy.

Its a 98 Disco V8i Automatic, does anyone know the proper size of the bolt so I can buy a propper size spanner to suit.

Thanks

John

I believe it's 28mm.
But i have never put that to the test as I also use a large adjustable spanner although I don't have any problems. Don't do it up so tight just till it nip's the 'new' copper washer, (the book says 40Nm torque for the plug).

Hi Discool,

I measured the head of the bolt with a vernier and it measured at 28mm so I have ordered a spanner, I will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Its not a 28mm spanner, its just that bit too small. so im tipping it to be a 29mm spanner. Im going to take my 28mm and just file it out till it fits rather than spend money on another spanner.

Cheers
