Was browsing itsbeenknicked.com website and came across these:

back2you.com online store - GPS Vehicle & Boat Tracker

Looks like a pretty good idea, I have always fancied a tracker but without the added cost of a subscription,

Has anyone used/seen these before?

(p.s I am in no way connected to the company)

PM Ryder and ask him what he can do for you. It wouldn't surprise me if he could do you a better deal which would be more reliable and have better back-up in place.

I do not want to seem like I am critisizing the opposition.... but I need to point out a couple of things:

This Advanced GPS tracker connects directly to your vehicles 12v supply and can be easily hidden. It has many features including the facility to immobilise your vehicle if it is stolen. The unit can also monitor speech through a remote microphone so you can hear any conversation taking place inside the vehicle via your phone. The unit works with any pay as you go SIM card (a UK PAYG SIM card is included) and you have no ongoing monthly fees. You can find out the exact location of your vehicle at any time by making one call to the unit, it will then send you an SMS message back giving you its exact location and speed.

It doesn't detail how the positions are obtained... what technology is being used or how accurate the position will be. Nor does it say what conditions might make the position inaccurate.

Does the tracker work anywhere? - Yes the tracker will work worldwide. The kit includes a UK SIM card which will work worldwide but text costs will be higher if you are outside the UK. If you plan to be in one country for a while you can install a local SIM card for cheaper text charges.

No... it does not. No GSM/GPRS tracker works worldwide. It relies on the mobile phone network, coverage can be sketchy... especially in places like Africa. Although we found ours worked in the main towns there.. it failed a little out in the middleof the desert.

Also it will not work on board a ship, once the ship is out ofmobilephone range. The only way you could make that work would be to buy a sat phone and hook the tracker up to it. Effective but extremely expensive.

Also trackers are illegal in Algera, as is any use of GPS.

Would like to see tech spec of these units.

I do not want to seem like I am critisizing the opposition.....

Having looked at your product thanks to the link you sent me I can see this is not criticising the opposition, merely having faith in a superior product,

Price is what you pay. Value is what you get

I'll pm you a couple more questions, only in Northampton so might pop down to check one out soon

Let me know and I will arrange a couple of meetings with people who currently use them. I could spout all day about how good they are.... but then I could take you to meet people who use them on a daily basis!
