Had a look under the Disco last night, was wondering if/how the gearbox and transfer box oil was or should be changed, and I found a stray pipe that looks like it should be attached to something.
Its a long hard plasic pipe, around 4 or 5mm i/d. It comes down from the engine bay somewhere ( though I cant find where exactly) then runs alongside the gearbox for around 18 inches or so then bends toward the ground for another few inches. This end is just kind of dangling around at the rear of the transfer box and looks like it is meant to fit into something but I cant find anywhere that it seems to have come from.
Any Ideas?
Paul.
Ps, a new clutch was fitted a few week ago so the box has been off, wondered if it is something the garage forgot to re-attach?

Sounds like a breather pipe, could be from a number of places, only way to find out is to look and see what ones are missing.
Don't think it's the Diffs as mine are cable ties to the steering arms

breather pipe to gearbox or transfer box. garage will have dropped the box and pulled the pipes off the top. ideally need putting back but will be fiddly now, specially if the pipes snapped.
other end exits in the engine bay infront of bulkhead at rear of engine. should be two pipes with a 180 degree bend in each end.

Assuming you've a R380 gearbox ...they are both on the right hand side of the boxes near the top...

That definately looks like the pipes. The loose end I can see looks intact, I suppose I would have to refit them by feel alone? cant see any way of being able to see what I'm doing now the box is back on.

Thats the obvious solution but they dont open weekends and I'm at work all week with the disco.

If you take the centre console, rubber mat and rubber membrane out you have access to the top of the gearbox. Should make the job a lot easier and only takes about 10-15mins to remove the lot.
