stiff clutch

my 300 tdi l reg has just started to get a stiff clutch. when you push the it in it works but the last bit is realy stiff as if i wont go down any further then it goes back to normal then goes again but all the time working any ideas??????

Probably just the release bearing sticking on the spigot shaft.

Not a lot you can do about it unless you fancy taking the box out.

You could peer in through the hole where the clutch release arm enters the bell housing and see if you can shine a light on the issue. You might then be able to get a long paintbrush and smear a little grease on the spigot shaft, or try spray grease at the area.

Obviously getting lubricant on the clutch plate is not a great idea.
