Needing your help hear folks.

I am about to buy an after market cd/dvd player for the discovery BUT i am on the understanding that the single DIN hole were the original sterio was is the same size for after market sterios BUT the discovery sterios are slightly shorter than every other cd player.

I need to secure the new cd/dvd player to fit snugly in to the DIN hole and all the fasteners on the cage to be bent back in to place so the sterio can be locked in to the cage BUT the bloody thing will be sticking out?

So how do i go about sorting this problem out?

Is there an aftermarket single DIN extention or something like this

All help and info will be greatfully taken on board

Motorsave & places similar have more converters / adapters for aftermarker ICE that you can shake a stick at. if you need any info on installs the the12volt.com is pretty good

All after market stereos come with an inner and outer cage, don't they? Even if the standard Disco stereo is slightly shorter, there is still space behind it. Surely a standard cage would extend back without touching anything? I have a Sony Xplod in mine, and it was fitted by Halfords, with no problems. Check the dimensions against that one at Halfords.

If I was you I would go to some where to get it fitted saves all the greif, but if I was you I would stay clear of halfords as they wanted £130 more to fit the same sterio as one of my local smaller shops.

after messing around recently swapping our Radio units around our disco's (as you do) it appears the the standard disco radio cage is only 2" deep and basically enable the standard radio to fit securly in the hole.

One of our disco's had a panasonic (IIRC) radio in, but wouldn't control the Autochanger - hence the above swapping.

Got a Disco stereo unit and bought a cage from ebay for a couple of quick - fits fine.
