Hi guys..Happy New Year!!...its been quite a while since i had problems with my landy till couple days ago...the steering starts to shakes violently from 70-90KmpH and then it stops when the rpm passes 100KmpH. Sometimes its shakes at 60KmpH as well but whenever it pass 100KmpH theres no more shaking.

Futhermore, there is a strange hustling sound when i turn the wheels to right at the speed of 60Kmph and above. Another thing i notice is that the steering isnt smooth and straight as previously because it easily moves to left n right like out of control.

i did wheel alignment and balancing to no avail. the shakes still there.
Can anybody help me figure this problem out ??...any comments, tips, recommendations is very much appreciated. Thanks a lots guys!!

Wheel bearings, track rod ends, panhard rod bushes all known to contribute or cause the death wobble, start with the bearings, cheap and easy to begin with then on to the rest of the list.

good luck

DiscoPol has a point...check what he said but if still no joy there still might be an issue with the wheel balancing if the tyres are old. The problem is that the balancing equipment which most garages use can turn the wheel up to a rotation equivalent to max. 50mph... so above this speed there is no more controll on wheel balance.... and the fact that the shudder starts at a certain speed then vanishes is a classic balancing symptom

I have 235/85/16 MTs on my disco and there really is no point having them balanced, a good weekend off road and there could be lumps missing everywhere or added crap in the treads, and i also had a wobble that started at 60kph but went at 67-70kph, so i started with the bearings, yes they needed doing and after replacing some and nipping the others up it got better, then i replaced the panhard rod bushes with poly bushes, after this it got better, then i replaced the trackrod ends as one was totally shot another had a split rubber and whilst everything was off it seemed foolish not to do em all, after this it got much better, so in my experience its usually a combination of a few things that cause the wobble, oh and i did finally have the M/Ts balanced, didnt make a jot of difference ;)

Thanks a lot Mr. Discopol and Sierrafery. I will order and change all the things mention by Mr. Discopol rightway and hope it fix the problem. Thanks much!.
