steering wheel convertion HELP?

hello all
i have a 1984 landrover 90 with a 36 spline steering wheel on,
i,m looking to change my steering wheel, and was wondering what would fit from other makes of vehicles as i want something smaller, but without the hassle and expence of buying a wheel and boss to convert it.

Me too! I have a disco one on mine but it rubs. Tbh spend £60 get a snap on boss and wheel kit.

i have done but cant find the answer i want on the subject , and by asking you somtimes get a proper response, rather than short bursts sarcasm :mooning:

At the back on the coving. Not for long. Have greased it for now

Don't be so tight & get a boss (under 30 squid). Then you can take your pick of wheels.

Like this beauty. The only rubbing going on is my hand on 345mm of Italian leather loveliness

Be careful what boss you get the one i bought brought the wheel closer to me by about 3" not what you need. i cut my old wheel apart used that as a boss, bit of fabricating and a few bolts now the new wheel sits as far back as poss.

Mine is a bit nearer but I am thinking of getting the seat riser rails to give me a bit more leg room which should make up for it.

thanks chaps thats one of the reason why i,m after another wheel because iv,e fitted a set of seats out of a vectra and the landy steering wheel rubs against my legs, just been on that buyit now site and found a wheel boss for 20quid and a very nice mini steering wheel for a tenner

Flat Eric - is that your fluffy lamb stuffed into the drinks holder? Do you cuddle it sweetly at night? Also - what exactly do you keep in the glass coffin box next to lamby???? Would that be weed sir?

Talking of steering wheels, I bought a 14" wheel and boss kit to replace my very dirty nasty looking standard wheel only to find when I installed it and went for a test run the whole landy felt as if I was driving on ice...really quite scary so I have put the old one back on.... if anyone knows of any tips on how to make a better install by doing something else please let me know.... it would be a shame to not use it as it all cost my arounf £75...

sorry to hijack the thread but i have also fitted an aftermarket wheel and boss to my 90 but the indicator stalk is miles away from the wheel now anyone got any measurments or links to a boss that will bring my wheel back closer to the stalks.

There is a reason Landys are fitted with that size wheel. The steering can be really heavy with a smaller one. I would get a newer landrover wheel off e bay 2007 - 10 puma wheels are 36 spline and TD5s.. from about £30

find a steering wheel from any old austin such as a mini /metro/maestro or montego they all fit without boss and straight swap

arent these 48 spline so wont fit early 110/90?

That's between me and my lamby. My lips are sealed.

Sorry to disappoint but my stash is mints with the less fattening centres.

Going by the guide on the first page of this thred, will an 'airbag' type c LR steering wheel replace the type a i have on my 1991 110 csw??
