Hi all,
The 10mm hydraulic pipe that runs along the top of my steering rack (1999 petrol Freelander 1) has given up the ghost and sprung a major leak.
On the Land Rover parts drawing it's pipe number 12, unfortunately these pipes are no longer available :(

Any ideas where I can buy one or get one made? I'm in the Derby area by the way.

If all else fails I could always buy a 2nd hand rack and rob the pipe off it but would rather fit a new pipe.

Thank you for any advice you can give.

I could make them up at home with a diy flarering kit. The pipe could be 10mm copper-nickel for ease of bending, reusing the end fittings if ok. Copper-nickel has a burst pressure of around 7,000 Psi, which is well above the 1,600 odd Psi that the PS works at.
So, being that I can made one, I would think that most engineering works should be able to make up the pipe for you.

I've spoken to a Pirtex guy a few minutes ago and he's going to rattle one out for me in the morning.
Just happened to be here doing some hydraulic hoses for us at work.

Thanks everyone

Hi GD, if that fails I have a used spare rack in the workshop, can easily remove pipe and send for cost of postage.

Good luck

Replacement pipe made and fitted and the guy wouldn't even charge me!!

What I thought had a couple of hundred quid attached to it (originally thought it was the rack leaking) turned out to be a quick free job.

Hurrah

Again thank you for your advice guys
