Hello.
My last post was some time ago. since then I have sold all my OLD landrovers and just bought a Defender 2.5tdi 1992 with power steering.
I picked it up today. Whoa!
The steering is VERY light and I am correcting it all the time as it wants to wander all over the place. I suspect damper, possibly the ps box needs an adjustment. How do I adjust it?
Or is is some other problem?
I am out at dawn with the jet wash to clean it all top to bottom so I can see where the oil leak is coming from that's another problem and to do a mini service as the oil looks like it's been in there quite a while.
Whilst I am at it, any tips on changing the timing belts?

The landy has very big wheels and tyres by the way. so that wont help I suppose.
Its got a great big fairy winch on the front powered by a pto.
This is rattling around as well so I need a bit of help as to how it works.
It has a lever on the top of the winch... wot does it do?

Any help appreciated..

the first thing id do, is put a set of standard wheels/tyres on it.
then see what happens. you may get a nice surprise eh?

Check all the ball joints first ,even one badly worn will make the stearing wander all over the place.and they wear out a lot quicker with os wheels and tyres. If you intend to keep it replace with balljoints with grease nipples.----BB
