hi guys still new to landys ive got a 90 and im not sure the steering is so great. what im getting is you steer then a pause the then she steers then i correct it and we get in to a wobble if i have a bit of speed on. i always have to steer it back to center is this a landy thing or something wrong

My 90s steering certainly feels different to my other (German) cars, but more in terms of there being a degree of play in the steering wheel rather than the delayed response/wobble you describe.

Have you checked the power steering fluid level?

no if everything in good order should steer well ,you will need to check all track rod ends ,wheel brgs ,swivel housing for movement can be confused with wheel brgs ,bushes on suspension steering linkage to pas box ,sounds like some one over tightened pas box to try and remove free play this can cause loss of self steering plus delay is often sign of input shaft worn its also the hydraulic valve assemblt that gives you pas,i think you will end up with new pas box but work through rest first

cheers for help so far gona be having alook at weekend im guessing pas box as its not long been motd and its been like this since i got it

I've got a manual steering box and I had to replace it after having tight spots and lack of self centering. It's probably not safe like that, so get it fixed as soon as you can. I felt like a right cock because it was my fault for over tightening it to reduce free play when I should have just replaced the steering column uj's instead! Not saying it's definitely your steering box but it sounds like exactly the same symptoms I had!

Hi kersey
I am a newbie as well but learning fast.:p..mine feels the same but I have already cured the pause on mine..it was a seized universal joint on the steering column..i changed them both and it cured that...still get a wobble over 40mph though...so i have changed my shocks and springs to new standard ones...mmm better still... and am in the process of slowly changing and checking all the items that jamesmartin suggests...all good fun and keeps me out of trouble:D
