Starts up.. stops (or messes about) then sarts up again??

Any thoughts on this one... My TD4 55 plate with 32K (just had new pump and filter and a service).... Will start when you initialy turn the key... then either stalls or messes about at 200 rpm and then picks up... or re-start and it's fine? no running problems.. rev's into the red etc etc... just that initial dip after starting????

No.. BMW td4 2 ltr.. either they start or they don't usualy... on sure why it should do this unless there is a micro leak in the pump or something?... but no diesel getting out??
