Stainless exhaust

What sort of price are you looking at for a stainless exhaust, something that will sound nice on a 3.9 SE.

Its a brooklands too...

I'd say you are looking at £500 upwards. I got one through Quicksilver with nice tips and details on it for £750 (negotiated down from £950 start price). Sounds lovely. That was for a L322 though, they don't list P38s, but I reckon if you asked they'd probably make one for you.

p.s. make sure whoever you go with are using special grades of steel. I forget what the exact term is but there are different types of steel, normally denoted by a number, which have different accustic properties. Google it and you'll probably find someone out there has written something on the subject somewhere!

forget custom mate, i have a non catalitic model, with just the middle box cut out and replaced with a 2.5" straight pipe. also has nice stainless universal back box. sounds very very very nice! trust me, almost like a tvr. (i recomend just the middle box cut out on a brookeland for authentic look)

Stainless spec. All pipework 409 grade, all silencers 304 grade.
System bore of 55mm

They look nice but Janspeed are a couple of hundred quid cheaper and look just as good. No idea how they compare in sound though. Trouble is, it's a Classic he has and not a P38......

Thats for a P38 isn't it?

I have a classic and hacked all of the exhaust off, from the y pipe, no boxes at all!!!!

Ordered this:



Fitted it and it sounds like a v8 top fuel dragster! (still goes the speed of a canal boat though!!!!!!!)

On a Classic we had I fitted a 4 branch manifold and a stainless the noise was gorgeous worth every penny and time fitting.
Can't remember what make it was though sorry

well my S6 which runs no exhaust at the mo(ends at handbrake) can be heard 400m away. Had a phone call "WHERE ARE YOU?"

then "DONT WORRY, I CAN HEAR YOU COMING"

All these guys using no cats, is that legal? Does it pass MOT ok or do you have to stick the original back on each year to MOT then take it off again?
