Recently purchased a td5, Its giving a squeeking sound consistent with engine revs, or gearbox speed, it doesnt do it when reved in neutral, Seems to be coming from the gearstick area when driving, but not consistent with overall speed... In every gear.. It had a recent clutch and flywheel change 12 mnths ago, I havent been under it yet, been busy quicksteeling a split intercooler, Prising a dead bird off the rad area and cleaning a really badly ****ted up afm... Any ideas or suggestions for me? Many thanks.

You havent mentioned if its a manual or automatic, but my first thought would be the same as James's - check the oil in both gearbox and transfer box.

btw - topping up oil in transfer box requires some device to pump the oil into the filler, you cant really fill directly from an oil bottle.

Dont forget to post back to let us know what it was and how you fixed it )

Yeh i will, I done a 60 mile run tonight in it, It seems to start making the noise at 30mph and goes when i hit 60 mph, It does it in third, fourth and fifth gears but not in 1st or 2nd, Its like a high pitched trill noise, like a canarie trill, gets louder with engine load, but dissapears after 60mph...

Still havent been under it..! Will post back and let you know but i also have a burst intercooler and need to know if a defender td5 one will fit.
