sports mode issue

Hi all, I am new to this site.
I call it sports mode on my auto gear shift but it is probably called something else. The issue I have got is? Sometimes/alot of the time I get a orange hill desent icon on the ipac and there is two red lights at the auto shift, one is in the park position and the other light is lit up at the S/M at the gear shift.
I have noticed this since I bought the car and had it looed at but the issue has come back again and I'm wondering what is causing this problem.
The only way I can correct it is to move the auto shift up and down and then turn the key off and on again (acting as a battery reset)
Is it a faulty micro switch or a fault somewhere else?
I will try and post a picture as soon as I can figure out how to do it...

What are you trying to fix? The HDC light or the sport/ manual light?
I suspect they are linked.
There are only 3 things that cause the HDC warning light.
1 throttle position switch.
2 throttle position sensor.
3 gear position implausible.
