Speedo not working

When I did a strip down and put on a new chassis last year and had all the steel work repaired then galvanised I played with the inside of the gear box behind the hand break. When I put the speedo cable onto the gear box end the other into the speedo it doesn't work. Any ideas? for a simple fix as it's Mot time soon with the test centre 10 miles away it the speedo reads the same as last year.

But I know It broken or as my wife would say you shouldnt of played with it.

Sounds like its fallen out behind the clocks

my speedo dont work either in my 88 but unless im in town i cant break the speed limit anyway lol

pull out instrument binnacle,remove speedo cable jack up rear wheel get mrs to turn it see if cable turns if it doesnt remove from behind hanbrake turn cable by hand to see if broken ,check end is square and not rounded on end where it goes into speedo drive,check speedo drive ends in good condition and check it turns by spinning wheel
