speed notice on dashboard

Good evening all and many thanks in advance.
p38 SE 1999
Coming home from work tonight beep beep from dash and notice underneath mileage indicator, speed limit 40 mph. Now I thought this related to suspension but suspension moves up and down on rocker switch and moves automatically in relation to speed, no other warning lights or symbols. Anybody got any ideas please.

yes you have set the cars speed alert to that speed. turn it off oe turn it up
