Hello everyone, this is my first post here, I'm over on the LR4*4 forum but hoping for a little more information from anyone here.

I have a 78 Series 3 Diesel with a good galv chassis and pretty straight body, however the bulkhead is badly rusted around the top section. I really want to get this sorted and fancy having a 'new' refurbished galv bulkhead fitted.

I'm pretty sure that I'd be best entrusting the work to someone who's done this sort of thing in the past, this tends to avoid the learning curve and dramas associated with a one off DIY jobby:(

So I'm looking for recommendations or advice, are there any LR specialists willing to tackle this work and have a good track record? I live in the North West but would be willing to travel if necessary. If anyone chooses to reply via PM then you can be assured that I'll treat the info with strict confidence.

Cheers Julian.

there's not many places that'll take on that sort of work, certainly not for a fixed price as it's an impossible task to quantify how long it will take - but expect to part with well in excess of £1000 for a supply and fit

don't dismiss the DIY approach - you'll be surprised what can be achieved with a few tools and some practice

I've done numerous bulkheads and it really isn't rocket science - this might encourage you to have a bash (literally)

If you are able to fit the bulkhead yourself, Ashtree Landrover International do refurbished Galvanised bulkheads, but it is quite pricey - £900 for a series 3 one. have a look at their website: Ashtree landrover

they are a fairly newish company and got a good write up in one of the landrover mags a wee while back.
